Press Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that the person was detained as a result of operative-investigation activities undertaken by the department officers. It was determined that the person is Baku city resident, former convict - Abbasov Tofig Aladdin. One "TT" pistol, 3 cartridges and clips were found on him during examination.  

He said that he got that pistol a few months ago and took it with him in order to sell it. That pistol was sent to ballistic examination in order to determine whether it is used in any crime or not. A criminal case was initiated in regard with the fact under the relevant article of Criminal Code in the Investigation Department of Nizami DPD and investigations are underway.

Appealing to citizens the Ministry of Internal Affairs indicates that the illegal firearms, explosives and installations kept in hands should be handed over to the law enforcement authorities on a voluntary basis.
