According to the mutual agreement executed between the Ministries of the Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, some complex operative investigation activities and preventive measures under the conditional name “Border” were undertaken in the territories of the borderline regions of the two countries from November 13 to 19 of the current year.
It was reported from the Press Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs that the main purpose of the operation was to take complex organizational and practical measures towards executing the decisions on the borderline cooperation issues, denouncing and disarming transnational organized criminal groups, and preventing the acts directed to the commission of the illegal actions related to the ammunition, explosive substances or devices, narcotic drugs, and etc.

In the result of the measures taken in the borderline regions of the Republic of Dagestan, Russian Federation and in the Gusar, Guba, Khachmaz, Zagatala, Shaki, Balakan, Gabala, Gakh and Oghuz regions of our country, 35 persons wanted due to their commission of various crimes were detained, as well as 14 persons wanted by the Russian Federation, while one person wanted by Georgia and 66 persons wanted by the state due to their debts were caught accordingly. Furthermore, two persons that had been reported missing were found and handed over to their families.

8 automatic firearms, 6 pistols, 87 rifled and non-rifled weapons, 34 hand-grenades, 30 gun magazines, 23 military equipments and ammunitions, 1 explosive, 1 grenade launchers, 6120 cartridges of different calibers, all of which were used illegally, were seized as a result of operative investigation actions, and 4 facts over the narcotic drugs were revealed. During the actions implemented, illegal appropriation of the firearms, theft and other crimes were revealed based on the 8 facts in Balakan, 4 facts in Guba, 3 facts in Gabala, 2 facts in Khachmaz, and 1 fact in Shaki accordingly.       

In general, such complex operative investigation actions implemented by complying with the protection of human and civil rights and freedoms, as well as the national interests of our country and principles of lawfulness are planned to be carried out in the future too.
