Police on the path of stability and development

02.06.2018

Today, on the one hand, it is easy to defend law and fight crime, and on the other hand it is difficult. It is easy, because the technical capabilities of law enforcement bodies now are expanding, new technologies and methods are being applied. However, there are also difficulties, because narrowing of the crime area from year to year, make people who are prone to commit dangerous actions, to seek new and secretive ways. This creates new demands for the law enforcement agencies, including the police.

The results, analyzes and generalizations of the past year show that the Azerbaijani police is aware of these changes and strives to protect the rule of law in the republic. Today the police continue to take effective measures together with other law enforcement agencies to protect the legal positions of the state from criminal encroachments, and fully control the crime situation. Last year our republic took one of the leading places among the CIS countries and Europe for the least number of crimes per 100,000 people. Indeed, despite the fact that society respects this issue, law enforcement does not require responsibility from anyone other than the police. It is natural. This responsibility was vested in the police on legal grounds. The main directions in the service were the principle of legality and activities related to the interests and positions of society. These principles increase the public responsibility of each police officer.

The specific task set by President Ilham Aliyev is that the police, as a representative of power, should serve people and gain even greater confidence by their determination, professionalism and culture. The law "On Police", dealing with the principles and directions of the police work, shows that the police act on the basis of respect for human and civil rights and freedoms, legality, humanism and unity of command. The main areas of their activities include the protection of public order and ensuring public safety, the prevention of crimes and other offenses, as well as ensuring road safety. Thus, only policemen are responsible to demand from people the observance of the rights, duties and powers arising from these principles.

Regardless of subjective tastes or relations of society or individuals, there is a concept of "social culture" that is objective in the public consciousness, and this concept becomes more perfect and inviolable as society develops. Because the notion of "public culture" is so ingrained in the Azerbaijani consciousness that being confronted with a small violation of the law, or even by everyday noise, people rightly turn to the police. Indeed, the police, being a reliable structure, which society relies on, is distinguished by national patriotism. Without grounds for relaxation, the facts, the realized work and the successes achieved show that social stability in our country is sustainable due to reliable protection.
