The next meeting of the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States members was held in Baku on July 20, 2018.
The Bureau on Combating Organized Crimes in the Territories of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation Interior Ministries, CIS Executive Committee, member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States, International Criminal Police Organization – Interpol, heads and delegations of the Central Asian regional department for combating drug trafficking, psychotropic substances and their precursors attended the meeting. First and foremost, the guests left wreath before the monument of national leader Heydar Aliyev and commemorated his memory. Flowers were laid on the grave of prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva. The First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, received the heads of the delegations. The First Vice President emphasized the reforms and achievements made in various spheres of public and political life of the republic and wished success to the Council by appreciating their work.
The same day the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of the CIS member states started its work.
In his inauguration speech, Chairman of the Council, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Militia Colonel-General Ramazon Rakhimzoda informed about the work carried out within the year of his leadership.
In accordance with the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of the CIS member states, the chairmanship was empowered to the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Then Assistant Head of the Department on work with the Law-Enforcement Agencies and military issues of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Fuad Alasgarov delivered the address of the Head of the State for the participants of the meeting according to the assignment of President Ilham Aliyev. He wished the Council new achievements by emphasizing its continuous efforts, achieved positive results to combat crime in its member states, as well as great and important work in the security of each country. Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Ramil Usubov, chaired the session, noted that the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Bureau on combating organized crime and other dangerous crimes in the territories of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States will be celebrated on September 24 of current year, and he congratulated the leadership and staff of the organization and wished them success. Department Director of the CIS Executive Committee, Lieutenant-General Albert Druzhin, Interpol Secretary General Jurgen Shtock delivered a speech at the meeting.
The agenda of the meeting included priority issues of cooperation between the Ministries of Internal Affairs of the CIS member states and the implementation of intergovernmental programs in the fight against crime, the situation of  exchange of information on armed conflict among the members of terrorist groups, the agreed mechanisms of activity for the prevention of cybercrime in the territory of the Member States, preparation of qualified staff in this field, holding scientific-practical conferences and other actual issues.
Emphasizing the position of our country in these directions, Minister Ramil Usubov highlighted the importance of regular meetings on the urgent issues of the fight against crime order to prevent challenges and threats. He noted and informed the participants about the criminogenic situation in the republic and noted that the effective organization of crime prevention and disclosure, as well as ensuring public order and secure provision of the interests of our countries and nations. Joint efforts for achieving these goals should be further strengthened, expediently and sustainable.
Heads of delegations exchanged ideas on the issues of the agenda. It was noted that as a result of effective cooperation between Ministries of Internal Affairs of member states, hundreds of crimes of public resonance are annually disclosured, transboundary criminal associations, as well as extremist criminal groups and gangs are neutralized, tens of dangerous criminals are extradited. In the organization and implementation of jointly agreed activities in these directions, interstate programs against crime, drug trafficking, other violent manifestations of terrorism and extremism, illegal migration, and human trafficking take a special place.
During the meeting that was held in the framework of friendship and cooperation, decisions were made on all planned issues, as well as it was confirmed to hold the next meeting of the Council in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan in the next year.

Then the order of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on awarding with the jubilee medal "100 years of the Azerbaijani Police (1918-2018)" was declared and Colonel-General Ramil Usubov presented awards.
The participants expressed their gratitudes to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for his high appreciation of the Council’s work, and the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for high level of organization of the event and sincere hospitality.
At the press conference, the heads of the delegations answered the questions that interest the journalists.
