ADDICTION IS BEACH OF THE UNIVERSE

The meetings of police officers with teachers and students of secondary schools of the capital are organized at the initiative of Baku Head Police Department (HPD) where recommendations and valuable advice about the consequences of drug abuse disturbing the public are made.

On January 23 there was held the event themed Drug Addiction is the Scourge of the Universe at complete high school no 225 of Yasamal district, Baku.
 
The officer of the Drug Enforcement Administration of Head Department, Police Lieutenant-Colonel Elshan Jahangirov speaking at the event reported that the social danger of drug abuse is that this crime is always committed in the hidden conditions. Police Lieutenant-Colonel said that drug addiction is a threat to the society as an infectious disease, and every citizen must join the fight against this evil.

The officer of  SSD of HPD, Police Major Kamala Alakbarova stressed the importance of the struggle of law enforcement agencies against drug trafficking. There was noted that addiction of adolescents and young people to drugs leads to evasion of education, exclusion from public life and, most importantly, exposure of health to hazards.

Noting the importance of the fight against drug abuse and trafficking, Chief Assistant of Head Department for the Work with Personnel, Police Major Zaur Alizada said that the fight against drug addiction requires individual and joint activities of each person.
The chief of YYCIU section of the Public Safety Department of Yasamal district of Head Department, Police Major Mayis Nuriyev and inspector, Lieutenant-Colonel Fargana Sharifova addressed the event which was attended by the district elders and expressed their recommendations.
 
There was demonstrated the sketch themed Drug Addiction is the Scourge of the Universe and prepared by the study group of amateur performance during the event. School Director Sevda Eminova stressed the great importance of relations between school and police to protect adolescents from harmful habits - addiction and noted the need for joint activities of the public.
At the end of the event the police officers listened to suggestions of the participants and answered the questions of teachers and students. 

On January 16, complete secondary school no 258 of Narimanov district of the capital held the event themed Fight Against Drug Addiction and Healthy Lifestyle. The officers of Head Department and District Police Office told about receiving psychotropic substances and causes ‘binding’ this as well as disasters caused by drugs in human life during the event.

Senior Chief Assistant for the Personnel of Head Department, Police Colonel Ali Valiyev addressing the meeting said that after independence, our nation has taken important steps to combat drug addiction, as well as a number of other problems. Nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev considered the fight against drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking as a national duty and signed Decree On Measures to Combat Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking on August 26, 1996 and showed the way to solve the problem. Based the Decree there was prepared Nationwide Program to Combat the Spread of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances in the country until 2000, there was established the State Commission to Combat Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs.

Head of Public Relations Department of the State Traffic Police Department of Baku HPD, Police Lieutenant-Colonel Vagif Asadov and the officer of Public Safety Department of Head Office, Police Major Kamala Alakbarova addressing the meeting told about the need to combat drug trafficking across the country at the level of law enforcement. The public was informed that every police officer is doing everything possible to combat drug abuse and makes an effort to remove it. Due to the severe consequences which narcotic drugs can cause in the human body there was told that although this is a disease of specific people, referred to as ‘drug addicts’, the fight against drug addiction is, in general, the problem of society.

The officers of Head Department - Police Major Zaur Alizada and Police Captain Fuad Imanov told about the main directions of combating crimes related to drugs, and the officer of District Police Department, Police Major Rustam Rustamov – about the threat of drug addiction for a healthy society. There was noted that in the fight against drug addiction a big role is given to parents, teachers and labor collectives. The greatest damage of all drugs, starting with cigarettes is caused directly to brain and central nervous system. Untimely elimination of the disaster can lead to big problems in the society.

In his speech, Chairman of the Veterans Council of Head Department, retired Police Major Emin Mammadov stressed the importance of the common struggle against drug addiction became a very serious problem for the mankind.
There was shown a video on drug addiction during the event.

During the event continued in the form of a dialogue, the school principal Sadagat Huseynova spoke about the importance of mutual relations between school and police in protecting teenagers from harmful habits - addiction and brought to the attention the need for joint activities with the public.
At the end of the event, the police officers listened to suggestions of participants and answered in details to questions interesting for teachers and students
