The internal affairs bodies will switch to robust security regime

The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-general Vilayat Eyvazov, signed the order related to additional measures for the protection of public order in connection with municipal elections which will be held on December 23, 2019.

The Press Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that in accordance with the order, in order to conduct municipal elections in the conditions of supreme security, the internal affairs bodies of the republic will serve in robust security regime from December 22 to 25.

On the election date, the number of post-patrol squads will be increased related to the provision of public order.

The order says that, in accordance with the article 104-14 of the Election Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, with the exception of participation in voting as a voter, the presence of a police officer in a polling station during the voting is prohibited. A police officer in a special form is able to enter a polling station only by the decision of the election commission of a polling station and based on an invitation of the chairman of the election commission of a polling station to restore public order, and must immediately leave a polling station after the restoration of order.
