A drug dealer was arrested

A man was arrested on the illegal market in the Nizami district who wanted to sell more than 5 kilograms of opium worth more than 22,000 manats.

The Nizami District Police Department's Drug Control Division has detained a man who is involved in drug trafficking and sale.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the police received operational information that a man named Parviz wanted to sell large quantities of drugs in the Nizami district. A resident of Baku, Parviz Gurbanov, was detained by police while selling opium weighing 73,042 grams. It is worth noting that although he tried to leave this territory in a car he managed, resisting police officers during his arrest, he was neutralized by the police.

During a search of the Jeep, which was driven by P. Gurbanov, an additional 5 kg of 46,085 grams of opium were discovered and seized in the vehicle’s luggage. P. Gurbanov said that he had bought the drug for sale several months ago from an Iranian citizen whose identity is unknown to the investigation. It should be noted that the detainee wanted to sell every kilogram of opium on the illegal market for 4,500 manats.

A criminal case has been instituted on the fact of the relevant articles of the Criminal Code. By the decision of the Nizami District Court, P. Gurbanov was sentenced to pre-trial detention. Investigative actions are ongoing to identify the environment of the detainee and his criminal connections.
