Attempts to assemble increasing the risk of infection, were prevented

31.08.2020

As it is known, all mass events, including gatherings of more than 5-10 people in public and other places, were banned, and mosques were closed by the Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan during the special quarantine regime applied in the country until September 30, 2020.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs informed that as this year, the Ashura ceremony also coincides with the period of the special quarantine regime, our citizens approached this appeal with understanding and to strictly abide by requirements of special quarantine regime. Attempts to assemble were identified in only a few cities and districts, which have repeatedly increased the risk of human infection so that these violations were prevented by the measures taken.

However, attempts have been made in some mass media and social networks to link the relevant bans to the prohibition on religious ceremonies on Ashura Day.

Emphasizing that such information is incorrect, as well as expressing our deep respect for the freedom of religion of the people, we state that it is impermissible to hold any meeting during the special quarantine regime, even a mass action in support of the Armed Forces. The only purpose of limitations applied is the protection of people health.

We once again call on our citizens not to forget the serious danger posed by the coronavirus pandemic, to maintain the positive results achieved at the expense of great and intensive efforts in this field, as well as to follow the rules of isolation, to keep the social distance, to use respiratory protection equipment at all times.
