Members of a gang that stole 90 units of drainage devices in various districts of the capital, causing damage to road infrastructure, were detained.

As a result of successful operational search activities carried out by the employees of the 37th Police Unit of the Khatai District Police Department, members of the gang that committed theft in various districts of the capital, causing significant damage to road infrastructure, were neutralized.

Thus, based on numerous complaints from relevant organizations regarding drainage gates on roadsides intended for drainage of rain and ground water being stolen, employees of the 37th Police Unit detained Baku residents Shahmali Azimov and his brother Nizami on suspicion of committing these thefts. During the investigation by the Unit, it was found that these citizens sold stolen iron devices to a person named Niyazi, engaged in collection of metal. During the operation, a resident of the capital, Niyazi Farajov, aware of drainage gates being stolen, was also detained. When inspecting their place of residence and work, part of the stolen drainage gates was found. They were seized as evidence and taken to the police unit.

The materials collected for the investigation on these facts were transferred to the Investigation and Inquiry Division of the Baku city Main Police Department. During the investigation, it was found that Shahmali and Nizami stole 90 units of drainage devices in various areas of the capital, thus causing material damage to the road infrastructure in the amount of about 12 thousand AZN.
