Main Public Security Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) holds events together with the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations in separate regions of the republic in order to prevent the sale of religious books, audio and video materials, other religious goods and materials which are permitted to be sold according to the order prescribed by the law "On Religious Freedom" in the places other than specialized sale points established by the consent of the relevant executive power bodies.     

Press service of MIA said that protocols of administrative offences were drawn up about 10 people for selling religious books and other religious materials without a consent (license) of the relevant executive power during the events held in Yasamal, Nizami districts of the capital, Ganja, Shirvan, Guba, Tartar cities and regions of the republic. 309 religious books and 34 CD disks were found and taken from those people.

In general, 138 people were detained and taken to city and regional police departments for making illegal propaganda by violating the provisions of the law "On Religious Freedom" during 6 months of the current year. 1066 religious books, 102 CDs and DVDs, 16 audio cassettes, 94 magazines were found and taken from them.    

As a result of taken measures a criminal case was initiated over one fact. Taken religious books were sent to the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations to be passed through theological examination.

The representatives of MIA held conferences over the regions together with the representatives of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, Prosecutor General's Office and other state organizations in order to raise public awareness about the essence of radicalism and extremism, the reasons of their establishment, the legal basis of the struggle in this area.
