On October 19 an operational conference dedicated to the results of the 9 months of 2017 was held in Baku city Main Police Department.
Opening the conference with welcoming remarks, Chief of the Main Department, police major general Mirgafar Seyidov noted that the legal state building process conducted by the President Ilham Aliyev in the country has been successfully continued within 9 months of 2017, and the protection of human rights and freedoms have been ensured.

A comprehensive report on the works performed by the police of the capital city within 9 months of 2017 in the directions of fight against criminality, defense of public order, protection of rights and independence and legitimate interests of citizens, the carried out events and the forthcoming tasks was presented to the attendants of the conference. It has been noted in the report that within 9 months of 2017 the number of criminal cases which are on the execution of investigative bodies of police authorities of the capital city, has been 10.858 (-218) cases by decreasing 2.0%. 74.6 % (-81, 2.553) of 3.422 (-177) criminal cases of which investigation has been completed, was sent to the courts to be reviewed, and proceeding of 25.4% (-96, 869) was terminated. 82.0 % (+13.4%) of financial loss caused to the citizens by criminal cases was made paid up.

A special attention was paid to the promotion process of application of home security system which plays an important role in preventing offenses against property, including burglary, and 495 (517) of the relevant 680 (882) appeals have been provided.

Protection of public order is also under a strict control in the capital, it was more strengthened in numerous events of international and republic importance, particularly during IV Islamic Solidarity Games and 2017 Formula-1 European Grand Prix races, and all necessary measures were taken in order to timely prevent all acts of provocation, as well as illegal actions.

Speaking on the report, chiefs of several service and territorial police authorities of Baku police promised to eliminate the existing defects and shortcomings in a short period of time.

Summarizing the operational meeting, Chief of the Main Department Mirgafar Seyidov generally appreciated the activity of police authorities in fight against criminality and provision of public tranquility in 9 months of 2017 as positive, and noted that the various infringements of law, including violation of human rights and freedoms have been significantly reduced in comparison with previous years.

He directed the meeting participants’ attention on the forthcoming issues important to be solved, provided tasks and recommendations, and showed the ways of eliminating defects.
