In total, in January, during a series of operations in the settlements of Mardakan, Turkan, Shuvalan, Bina, Shaghan, as well as in other districts of the region, 46 people were detained, involved in drug trafficking, cultivation and trade by Khazar District Police Department (DPD), as well as employees of local departments and police units.
Large quantities of heroin, opium, marijuana and methamphetamine, a psychotropic substance, were reportedly found in these individuals.

The detainees stated that they received drugs online from unknown Iranian citizens on social networks in order to sell them in the capital, as well as for personal use.
The collected materials on the facts were sent to the Investigation Department of the Khazar DPD.
“Police officers continue operations to detain other persons involved in illicit drug trafficking in the territory of Khazar district”, – was noted in the report.
