Mr. Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli received Colonel-General Ramil Usubov and the people who accompanied him on the first day of the visit.
The Interior Minister of Iran welcomed warmly the guests, thanked for the fact that they accepted his invitation and stressed that intensification of mutual visits indicates development of cooperative relations between the countries and the Presidents of both countries achieved improvement of mutual relations taking into consideration the interests of our peoples.

Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli mentioned the unvalued services of national leader of Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev in making relations based on mutual respect and amity between our countries and his visit to Iran while working as the chairperson of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and informed willingly that the mutual relations were developed between our states when he governed Azerbaijan for the second time and great successes gotten by President Ilham Aliyev continuing successfully the line of policy of Heydar Aliyev currently in all directions of Azerbaijan delight them and consider the safety and progress of our republic as their safety and development.
 
Then, Mr.Fazli spoke about Law Enforcement Agencies’ struggle against criminogenic situation, criminality as well as drug smuggling in his country and informed that 800 tons drug was confiscated during only the previous year and Iran is used by smugglers as the transit country because of its favorable geographical location and more 3 thousands police and border-guards became martyrs in this struggle.

Minister Ramil Usubov thanked for warm reception, hospitality, detailed information and welcoming remarks and informed that President of Azerbaijan Republic Mr Ilham Aliyev pays special attention to the development of the relations with Iran, currently Azerbaijan-Iran relations develop more as a result of the political willpowers of the heads of states, and the relations of both countries based on true friendship and strategic partnership are appropriate for the interest of our peoples and states.

Then he stressed that the processes happening currently in the region cause the necessity of strengthening mutual struggle against transnational organized crime, and expansion of cooperative relations and exchange of information is important in order to struggle effectively against such crimes in particular drug smuggling, human traffic and illegal arms trading, international terrorism.

Then, Minister R.Usubov informed about resolute actions taken in the area of struggle against crime, the problems in the first year of the independence in our countries, the military aggression of Armenia against our country and its catastrophic consequences, reforms carried out after return of great leader Heydar Aliyev to supreme power, resolute measures taken by law enforcement agencies as well as internal affairs bodies in the direction of restoration of peace and currently that police is carried on according to our national interest.

Colonel-General Ramil Usubov condoled the families of the died people for  many human losses as a result of terrorist act committed nowadays in Ahvaz city of Iran and informed that this incident caused great sadness and grief in Azerbaijan, as well.
Minister, Colonel-General Ramil Usubov met chairperson of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani, commander of Border Guard Service  and General Ghasem Rezaei and other officials within the framework of the visit continuing for two days. The Minister of Internal Affairs stressed that building mutual cooperative relations is necessary in order to struggle effectively against organized crime and it is important to exchange of experience and information among police agencies in this direction.

Minister R.Usubov noted that Iran has gained enough experience in the resolute struggle against drug smuggling and Azerbaijan police can use opportunity from this experience, and informed that it is important to continue the joint efforts hereinafter to increase comings and goings of the citizens as well as to maintain highly the peace and social security in both countries related to the development of tourism. In the meetings the ideas were shared about other interesting issues, as well. Extraordinary and plenipotentiary Ambassador of Azerbaijan in Iran Bunyad Huseynov also participated in the meeting.
