An extended operational meeting devoted to the results of the first quarter in 2017 and the assigned tasks was held in the Baku city Main Police Department on April 20.

Taking the floor in the meeting, Police Major-General Mirgafar Seyidov, Chief of the Baku city Main Police Department, highlighted that the first quarter of 2017 is of great importance. He said that successful development of Azerbaijan is continued and social and economic problems are solved by virtue of the purposeful policy of President Ilham Aliyev. The duties assigned to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) on the provision of social and political stability and rule of law and public order in the country, which is the integral part of these successes, have been duly implemented. Chief of the Main Department brought to the attention that the Baku city Main Police Department, which is considered one of the major structures, played an important role in gaining these successes, and in the reporting period the service, occupational and physical preparation of personnel, material and technical support empowered to carry out the tasks in hand.

Then, detailed report on the crime prevention, protection of rule of law, provision of social security, the works done in other fields of operation-service activities and the assigned tasks in the first term of 2017 was heard.

It was noted that 2865 (3518) criminal cases were registered in the capital city by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Prosecutor’s Office in the first three months of 2017. 82,3 percent (2359)  of these crimes were less serious crimes and the ones that are not so dangerous for the public, 17,7 percent (506) of these crimes are serious and particularly serious type of crimes. In comparison with the same period of last year deliberate murder decreased by 40 percent, and attempts to commit crime by 3 times.

75,4 (74,4%) percent of crimes, 73,8 (78,5%) percent of serious crimes, and 67,7 (60,4%) percent of crimes committed under the undisclosed conditions were solved. 88,4 percent (93,5%) of 438 crimes against personality, as well as 100 percent (94,4%) of deliberate murder, and 100 percent (100%) of attempts to commit a crime have been fully disclosed.

In relation to the compared period the disclosure of general crimes improved  1 percent, deliberate murders 5,6 percent, crimes against property 4 percent, as well as, disclosure of state-owned and municipal property thefts 40,2 percent, private property thefts 8,4 percent, home burglaries 13,6 percent, disclosure of cattle rustling 38,3, robberies 11,5 percent, plundering 2,7 percent, hooliganism 6,6 percent, and traffic accidents causing to death 0,8 percent.
The use of the modern information technologies had a great role in the crime prevention and disclosure. 1242 accidents were uncovered by operators of the Safe City Service of the Main Department and territorial police bodies and 61 concealed crimes were disclosed with the use of file footages.
