Jointly complex operational-investigative and preventive measures were taken under the conventional name of “Boundary” in the territory of the boundary regions of both countries from November 19 to 25 of the current year in accordance with mutual agreement obtained between the Ministers of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan Republic and the Russian Federation.

According to the information given by the Press Service of the MIA, the main purpose of the operation was to expose and neutralize transnational organized criminal groups, take jointly complex organizational-practical measures in the area of determination and prevention of access channel of financial and material supplies aimed at ammunition, explosive components and devices, drugs as well as implementing illegal actions, and perform the decisions made up on cross-border cooperation issues.

As a result of the measures covering boundary zones of Dagestan Republic of the Russian Federation and Gusar, Guba, Khachmaz, Zagatala, Shaki, Balakan, Gabala, Gakh and Oghuz regions of our country, 18 people wanted for different crimes, as well as 12 ones searched by the Russian Federation were arrested, 4 ones considered as missing were found and 61 ones were detained because of avoiding execution of civil and legal obligations.

9 automatic firearms, 1 bomb thrower, 5 pistols, 80 rifles, 31 magazines, 40 grenade, 30 grenade launchers, 20 other military equipments and ammunition, 5642 cartridges with different caliber, kept illegally were detected and taken in an appropriate manner.

5 facts related to drugs were detected as a result of operational-investigative measures. Also revealing of 5 different crimes committed in the territory of the boundary regions of our country was ensured during the measures.

Generally, protection of rights and freedoms of human and citizen, as well as taking such jointly complex operational-investigative measures realized by strictly adhering to national interests and principles of legality of both countries are planned to take in the future.
